Who We Help

Financial Guidance Designed for Growing Businesses

Different businesses, the same underlying problem: financial complexity that has outgrown the person handling it.

Growing Business Owners

The problem: Revenue is up and so is the complexity. Estimated payments are guesswork and nobody is looking at the year ahead.

What changes: A tax strategy set before the year closes, books you can actually make decisions from, and someone to call before you commit.

Professional Service Firms

The problem: Partner distributions, uneven revenue, and profit that never quite matches what the bank balance suggests.

What changes: Clear profitability by service line, distribution planning that avoids surprises, and cash flow you can forecast.

Contractors & Trades

The problem: Job costing that lives in someone’s head, equipment purchases timed by instinct, and 1099-versus-W-2 exposure nobody has checked.

What changes: Real job-level costing, Section 179 and depreciation planned deliberately, and worker classification reviewed before an auditor does it.

High-Net-Worth Families

The problem: Wealth built over decades with no plan for moving it to the next generation efficiently.

What changes: Coordinated retirement withdrawal sequencing, charitable strategy, and estate planning that works alongside your attorney.

Why Oldest City Financial Consulting

CFO-Level Financial Leadership Without Hiring a Full-Time CFO

Running a successful business shouldn’t mean carrying every financial decision alone. Most owners reach a point where bookkeeping and a once-a-year tax return stop being enough.

Since 2002In public accounting

Let Oldest City Financial Consulting, LLC be your Chief Financial Officer while you concentrate on building your company.

Most accountants report on the past. We help you plan for what comes next. A full-time CFO costs six figures before benefits; most growing companies need the thinking, not the salary. The same person prepares your books, files your return, plans your year and represents you before the IRS — so nothing falls between one professional and the next.

  • Strategic planning and growth. A plan tied to where the business is actually going — and whether you can afford the hire, the equipment, the location.
  • Cash flow you can forecast. Know what is coming in, what is going out and what is left to work with — monthly, not annually.
  • Profitability by line. Which jobs, services and clients actually make money.
  • Tax strategy, worked out in advance. Structured before year end, while it still changes the outcome.
  • The highest credential the IRS awards. An Enrolled Agent is licensed federally, with unlimited practice rights to represent you before the IRS.
  • Relationships, not transactions. 125+ clients, several with us more than a decade.

What Our Clients Say

Real clients, named, with their businesses linked. Ask them yourself.

I’ve worked with Ashley for several years now, and she handles everything, including our personal taxes plus multiple business entities. What sets her apart is that she’s not a once-a-year filer. She’s responsive year-round, genuinely knowledgeable, and proactive about planning ahead. She takes the time to walk through options, explain the reasoning, and make sure we’re set up right heading into the next year. As our situation has gotten more complex, she’s been an invaluable partner. I recommend her to anyone who wants a tax professional who thinks ahead, not just at filing time.

Bryan MorrisManaging Partner, Seven Peak Capital

Working with Ashley at Oldest City Financial Consulting has been an exceptional experience. She is direct, no nonsense, incredibly knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every detail is handled correctly. I truly appreciate her thoroughness, responsiveness, and commitment to finding the best solutions.

Most importantly, I trust Ashley completely with confidential financial matters. Her professionalism, integrity, and expertise give me complete confidence that my interests are always in good hands. I highly recommend Ashley and Oldest City Financial Consulting to anyone looking for an accounting professional they can genuinely trust.

The Questions Business Owners Ask First

Straight answers, including where the answer is “probably not us”.

What is the difference between an accountant and CFO services?

An accountant records and reports what already happened — the books, the return, the compliance. CFO services use that information to decide what happens next: cash flow forecasting, budgeting, pricing, profitability by line, and the timing of major decisions.

Most firms stop at the first. Our CFO services cover both, which matters because the person planning your year is the same person who knows what is actually in your books.

How can proactive tax planning reduce my tax burden?

Because almost every lever that lowers a tax bill has to be pulled before the year closes. Entity structure, owner compensation, the timing of income and deductions, retirement plan contributions, equipment purchases, and the sequencing of asset sales all change what you owe — and all of them are fixed by 31 December.

A return prepared in March can only report those decisions. Tax planning makes them deliberately. Our clients pay the lowest amount of tax allowable by law because we look for ways to minimize it throughout the year, not just at the end of it.

Do you manage investments or act as a financial advisor?

No. Ashley is an IRS Enrolled Agent, not a financial advisor or investment adviser. We do not sell, recommend or manage investments, and we do not sell insurance or financial products.

What we do is the tax, accounting and planning side — and where you already have a financial advisor, we work alongside them. That is usually the arrangement clients get the most from: your advisor manages the portfolio, we make sure the tax consequences are handled deliberately rather than discovered in April. If you do not have an advisor and need one, we will tell you what to look for.

What are the benefits of working with an Enrolled Agent?

An Enrolled Agent is licensed at the federal level by the Internal Revenue Service, not by a state board. It is the highest credential the IRS awards, earned by passing a three-part examination covering individual and business returns and maintained with 72 hours of continuing education every three years.

Enrolled agents, like attorneys and CPAs, have unlimited practice rights — unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can appear before. Practically: the same person can plan your year, file your return and represent you if the IRS asks questions.

Do you work with businesses outside St. Augustine?

Yes. We work throughout Northeast Florida — Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, Palm Coast, Daytona Beach, Orange Park and beyond — and remotely in all 50 states. The Enrolled Agent credential is federal, so it does not stop at the state line.
